Missing TODAY Show

Before, I have plenty of time in the morning to watch Today show on Channel 9 before getting off to work. But now that I moved further away from North, I have no time to sit for breakfast and watch the show. I miss the show so much and the hosts especially Karl Stefanovic and Lisa Wilkinson. Like any other breakfast TV shows, it is informative, keeps you up-to-date but I guess the camaraderie between hosts has made the show more enjoyable to watch than others. Plus the sense of humour they put in every morning and I love it when they are having fun on the show. Here are some video clips.

I was listening on The Kyle and Jackie O Show at 104.1 fm station while on the train and heard the news about Karl, about being drunk on Today show Monday morning after the TV Logies (TV Week Logie Award). I have seen the video but I would say he just had a big night at Logies. There was several laughing moments he did that maybe annoyed some viewers but it could be just the effect of not having enough sleep after partying hard and there was no swearing or had said some sort of foul things. He seems just alright the typical Karl that I have watched before. Here’s a video link to the news made by other channel.

He didn’t admit that he come on air drunk but he apologizes anyway. I believe yah :)

Recession impact

I thought the current recession will take it turns and will end without affecting our company’s business. Though our company has taken measures of postponing salary increases or any promotions and cutting some expenses didn’t guarantee everyone’s job security. I thought that as long as our major clients are doing okay (I haven’t heard anything about their economic downturns in the news) we will be fine.

Our company has started reducing the number of people from our department, we’re not that many from our team, we’re only 5 now 4. I was in Colour Conference when I was told by our director that one of us will get redundant and that it was happening as well in our different offices around the globe. I was saddened and shocked because I no longer thought that we are vulnerable to the recession. I didn’t really see it coming and never felt its impact until that day.

And just yesterday I read the news from our portal that they have closed one of our offices.

2009 kickoff

Three weeks ago, I got a complaint from our team lead together with my other colleagues.

That he’s been receiving feedback from people around the office and that he is noticing it as well. Several issues were raised: Coming to work late and going home early, taking more than 1-hour lunch break, slow progress & less motivated at work, and often attending to personal emails. Well, the only thing that my other colleagues is guilty of is the lunch break issue where we all go together, but they were never late, they have good report every status meeting and I’m sure they don’t spend much time reading personal emails. So the rest of the issues are solely on me.

But the good thing is that he is not angry when he told us, he is just concerned that we are becoming less interested to work and that we might have some concerns that we think need to be addressed of.

The worst scenario crossed my mind. I will get sacked and with the ongoing recession most likely it will be difficult to find a new job, then that means it’ll be hard for me to pay my bills, couldn’t support my family and whew!, trail of negative thoughts creep in.

I need to think about that worst thing to make me do something cause I really need a push.

I now manage to go to work as early as 8:30am so I can leave at 5pm unlike before I come in at 9am where everyone is already there working and the fact that I just live nearby, 15-min walk to the office, made it more unpleasant. Also, we are careful now to only have 1-hour lunch break (that commence from the time we left our desk as we are told).

I will work on the rest of the issues but no time frame. I’m tired and yes I’m not motivated. And reading personal emails is a breather for me, so I still do it often :)
